As I look at them a feeling of security, of protection, mixed with childlike awe holds me in their grip. These are the emotions caused by the Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park. Rugged, alluring, and stately peaks like Lefroy, Athabasca, Assiniboine, Temple, and Rundle stand watch over Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Paradise Valley, and the Columbia Ice Fields. Long ranges of mountains running north to south are separated by deep lush valleys. Peaks capped with snow and hanging glaciers that are the source for the rivers. I go out to photograph these elements of natural beauty - mountains and valleys, glaciers and lakes, rivers and creeks, flowers and trees: to capture them for all to experience the beauty that is the Canadian Rockies and our National Parks - Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Yoho National Park, and Kootenay National Park. While the Rockies are always providing moments, as a Landscape photographer I need to be out, to be both in and at those moments, when they occur. Landscapes from Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Columbia Icefields, Bow Valley, Wonder Pass, Paradise Valley, Mount Assiniboine, Sunshine Meadows - and all through Banff National Park are the sights I hike to waiting for those Rocky Mountain moments to photograph.
