Trees are so important. I look at trees and am thankful for the beauty and texture they bring to the landscape. Trees are vital to humans, here in the Rocky Mountains of Banff National Park, all throughout the Canadian Rockies, and all of nature. Why? They prevent erosion and clean the air, they break the wind, give us shade, and all of this is a welcome addition to their presence in the landscape. With these vital functions, they also have a beauty that, in this setting, speaks to their prominence, necessity, and synchronicity as part of any scene. Larch, Juniper, Birch and Aspen, Pine, Spruce, and Cedar they add color, presence, and aroma - and, with all the other things they provide, they are in my eyes a special subject to photograph.

Trees in the Canadian Rockies are a natural and vital part of the incredible beauty and complexity of the mountain environment. Larch, Spruce, Pine, Juniper, Birch, and Aspen establish their presence within the mountainscape. Peaks capped with snow and hanging glaciers that are the source for the rivers are dotted with trees that hold the earth in place. Trees are one of these elements of natural beauty - mountains and valleys, glaciers and lakes, rivers and creeks, flowers and trees: to capture for all to experience the beauty that is the Canadian Rockies and our National Parks - Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Yoho National Park, and Kootenay National Park. The trees in the Rockies have their special moments. I capture those moments when they occur. Landscapes and trees in Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Columbia Icefields, Bow Valley, Wonder Pass, Paradise Valley, Mount Assiniboine, Sunshine Meadows - and all through Banff National Park. These moments captured forever in a print, will not come again-but in these prints it can be yours forever!
